Responsible for the timely review of home health coding during the training period of the Coding Specialist. In partnership with the Coding Trainers, the Coding Reviewer supports and assists the Coding Specialist in developing a coding competency that will prepare them for home health coding certification.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. College Degree preferred. Minimum three years coding experience in home health, experience with electronic medical record systems, current certification in Home Health Coding, proven proficiency and knowledge of training and education principles.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
OASIS Certification preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire. Must maintain home health Coding certification. Frequent travel is required.
Management/Decision Making
Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these. Ability to manage defined systems and processes within BHS and able to successfully convey this knowledge.
Knowledge and Skills
Possesses extensive knowledge of a distinct skill of function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment. Has a working knowledge of a functional discipline. Knowledge of HIPAA and Federal Regulations, OASIS Guidelines and Home Health Conditions of Participation and Coverage Determinations as they pertain to coding Home Health episodes. Basic computer software skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
