Job Description

The Associate Sales Training Director is responsible for implementing product, disease state, selling skill training, and ongoing skill development for Oncology Account Managers in field facing sales organization.


Create and implement training programs to support successful build out, launch and lifecycle management of products.
Develops and executes new representative training with an emphasis on product and disease state. knowledge, selling skills, and regulatory compliance during launch and lifecycle management of products.
Create and implement ongoing training programs for use during regional and national sales meetings.
Conduct periodic assessments through on the job observation of sales representatives.
Partner with marketing on training execution of marketing tactics.
Monitor clinical developments and execute needed ongoing training in partnership with medical affairs.
Design and conduct quality assessments of the outcomes and effectiveness of training and development efforts.
Act as liaison to Regional Trainer team, including ownership on ongoing initiatives and communication.
Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern Exelixis conduct.

Indirectly supervises employees through a dotted line structure or via other subordinate supervisors.


Education and Experience:
Master's degree in related discipline and 8 years of related experience; or
BS/BA degree in related discipline and at least 10 years of related experience; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Oncology experience required
Previous experience in Sales Management and or Sales Training preferred

Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals.
Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of FDA Regulations of pharmaceutical drug promotions and experience with design and implementation of adult learning programs.
Business travel is required.

Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results.
Uses professional concepts and company's policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways.
Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
