Intertek is looking to fill a Builder position within the Fire Testing Department. In this position you will construct and demolish large scale test assemblies on a project by project basis as well as assist test technicians in sample preparation and test clean-up.

You will be responsible for reading, understanding, and interpreting client and manager provided installation drawings and procedures. You will be interacting with the Project Manager, technicians, and clients to ensure the preparation of all project details are complete to satisfaction. In addition, you will implement ideas and execute practices to ensure safety, reliability, improved quality, reduce cost, and comply with company policies. Ideal candidates should have proficient construction knowledge in addition to excellent written & verbal communication skills. Previous testing experience not required but an eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and good work attitude are required.

Duties:

Construction and demolition of mock-up test assemblies.

Small, intermediate, and large scale specimen preparation.

Assist with client product installation (when needed).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical standards and specifications.
  • Proficiency in interpreting construction plans and installation instructions.
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift, push and/or pull (infrequently) up to 75 lbs., bend down, climb ladders, reach over-head and work at heights up to 40 feet.
  • Commercial construction experience desired.
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools used in building construction.
