What you will do

As the West Coast Business Development Manager, youwill assist with identifying, investigating, and evaluating new business opportunities and alliances that promote the organization's objectives. You will develop strong consultative relationships with key end-users/owners and specifiers to ensure Fire Suppression Products (FSP) is listed as a proprietary or preferred vendor. This role covers9 states including:Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Hawaii, Montana and Wyoming. The ideal candidate will be located anywhere within the territory in a reasonable distance to a major airport.

How you will do it

  • Create and maintain consultative client relationships and engage in retention selling to ensure continued long-term success and profitability of FSP.

  • Provide on-site technical training to architects, consulting engineers, risk providers, AHJs, end-users/owners and key accounts.

  • Explore and build partner relationships to develop and/or enhance business alliances.

  • Diagnose and respond to client questions, with written and verbal follow-up on all aspects of request.

  • Coordinate with sales to ensure awareness of upcoming projects, opportunities and/or changes in customer specifications in order to improve chances of opportunity conversion.

  • Provide timely and detailed documentation in advance and downstream of meetings and site visits, generally staying in touch with and disseminating critical information flow, as applicable.

  • Conduct research and analysis of strategic market/project opportunities consistent with FSP strategy.

  • Evaluate market/project opportunities by engaging with clients and carrying out feasibility studies.

  • Participate in strategic planning processes with the Senior Business Development Manager.

  • Implement business plans and initiatives in coordination with other business functions.

  • Work closely with the Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Engineering teams to inform them of market conditions, pricing issues, competitive trends, and similar.

  • Attend trade shows and industry conferences

What we look for
Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field of study.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in business development, marketing, or sales in the Fire Protection industry.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment and capable of communicating with a diverse audience.

  • Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning, and promotions/advertising.

  • Engineering or FPE credentials are preferred
