We are seeking a Carpenter to:
Perform floor coverer duties under the supervision of the Building Trades Supervisor for Maintenance & Engineering Building Trades Carpenter Shop, for UW Health.
Layout and install floor coverings in accordance with accepted common practices and procedures of the floor covering industry and at the highest level of quality Craftsmanship.
Perform floor coverer journeywork in accordance to practices and procedures consistent with the floor coverer trade as well as blueprints, drawings/sketches, schematics, written specifications etc.
Education:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Four year floor coverers apprenticeship.
Work Experience:
Minimum One year as a journeyman floor coverer (commercial or healthcare installations).
Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum Floor Coverer Journey Worker certification or ability to certify equivalency of required hours for floor coverer Journey Worker.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Valid drivers license.
Knowledge of all methods, procedures, practices and tools of the Floor Coverer trade.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings/sketches, schematics, and written specifications as they pertain to the Floor Coverer Trade. Must also have a general understanding of how they pertain to all other trades diagrams.
Possession of good customer service skills.
Thorough knowledge of hand tools, handheld power tools, their setup, operation, maintenance, and how to safely operate them.
Thorough knowledge of the materials, adhesives, and installation methods used for resilient flooring (vinyl and rubber sheet goods), LVT, VCT, ceramic tiles, carpet tiles, and other flooring as directed.
Thorough knowledge of sealants and caulks used for each installation
Adherence to appropriate safety procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital and departmental policies, including but not limited to: Safety & Infection Control (TB & Aspergillus precautions), Universal Rights, and Patient Rights.
Keeps current with trade training and certifications needed to perform the work of a Journey worker Floor Coverer.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
May be required to perform job duties outside of normal business hours.
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy: Ability to lift over 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Work Schedule:
100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Scheduled shifts are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
