- Perform venipuncture and heel stick specimen collection activities according to laboratory protocol.
- Follow laboratory protocol to ensure proper identification of patients and specimens.
- Consistently apply infection control policies and procedures at all times.
- Provide quality laboratory service to clients, patients, physicians and peers.
- Perform pre-analysis and post-analysis of laboratory orders according to department protocols and procedures.
- Evaluate quality assurance requirements when applicable.
- Attend and actively participate in department specific education, training, in-services, process improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
- Ensure equipment and safety devices are used as intended and designed.
- Perform data management and documentation activities.
- Require effective communication, verbally, in writing and through other means.
- Ability to be at work and be on time.
- Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
- Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card
- Current certification as a Phlebotomist Technician by the State of California
