The Associate Program Director will work with the current Program Director, to continue to build/grow the translational research program. The Associate Program Director in Infectious Diseases will be responsible for management of the translational research program which currently includes grant contracts from the NIH, PA DOH, Industry and CDC totaling $13 million-dollars and another $1 million dollars in Clinical Trials. Supervision of the entire ID Transplant Program team, to ensure recruitment goals are achieved. Will assist with identification and application of source funding for grant projects, communication with internal departments within the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC. Incumbent will provide oversight of all Infectious Diseases industry/investigator and grant research projects for internal and external submission to all applicable regulatory bodies, with ongoing evaluation to ensure compliance with all research conduct guidelines. Will direct all of the Infectious Diseases Division's UPMC Clinical Trials through the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Support (OSPARS). Will assist with Industry Sponsored contract negotiations, develop budgets and monitor expenditures. Incumbent will have interactions with regulatory bodies on the local, state and federal level. This position will be a resource and demonstrate leadership qualities to other research team members. Associate Program Director represents the program in a leadership role at national meetings and on regular national conference calls. The incumbent will command clinical, analytical, organizational and exceptional communicational skills necessary to maintain and promote a financially solid Infectious Disease Research Unit.The individual must have and maintain a current Pennsylvania Nursing License. Master's degree or post-graduate training in nursing preferred. Bachelors degree with 6 years of experience may substituted for Masters degree. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent organization skills. 2 years of clinical trial experience in an academic setting preferred. Incumbent must recognize the obligation to maintain professional growth through continuing education, and maintain current CPR certification. Must complete Blood Borne Pathogens training annually and shipping infectious biological materials training every two years. Registered Nurse (RN)
