The Impact Youll Make in this Role

As a Clinical Development Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Creating Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) CPT-4 or ICD-10-CM content for 3M products the leader in the industry for streamlining the medical coding process and documentation improvement for facilities and physicians
  • Reviewing customer facing software to determine NLP accuracy.
  • Editing ICD-10-CM rules to improve NLP output.
  • Collaborating with medical coders and NLP software engineers to deliver coding content for 3M products
  • Communicate with product owners, scrum masters, subject matter experts, and developers
  • Test changes against data, validate improvements to the products and support the release of changes to customers

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start)from an accredited institution and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in medical coding in lieu of the Bachelors degree education requirement
  • Two (2) years experience working with risk adjustment coding including assigning CMS-HCC, RxHCC and/or HHS-HCC codes appropriately.
  • One (1) year of the following current medical coding certifications: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CRC, CPC-H, RHIT, RHIA. Or plans to obtain one within eighteen (18) months of starting the position.
  • Five (5) years experience creating content and working with clinical ontologies such as SNOMED-CT, RxNorm, LOINC, ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • College degree (2 year or 4 year program)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Experience with automated medical coding products

  • A commitment to team-oriented approaches and consensus building

  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to break down coding into component parts

  • The ability to grow into a leadership role

  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft office products and to troubleshoot common software and hardware issues on your own

Travel: May include up to 10%

Location: 3m HIS office or Remote
