A Day in the Life

Manages the clinical development and education, administration of consignment and equipment, and customer education programs pertinent to Medtronic defined products and technology. Formulates and implements policies and procedures and participates in all facets of clinical and operational decision-making pertaining to the programs of the organizational unit. Trains and educates investigators/customers on the proper use of Medtronic products and technology.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducts on-site education and/or consulting.
  • Supports field personnel in providing the best possible outcomes and service for Medtronic customers.
  • Partners with sales colleagues to develop and execute plans of sales for within one or more business unit(s).
  • Participates in conventions, forums, and meetings to increase product awareness.
  • Works closely with Clinical Lead, Clinical Management and Regional Sales team to provide customer case and sales support.
  • Identifies and facilitates execution on growth opportunities with the Sales and Clinical Support Team.
  • Serves as a technical resource to support sales of a specific medical product or solution.
  • Provides leadership and direction in all aspects of the establishment, implementation, promotion, and administration of the clinical education activities, including assessment, curriculum planning, communications and clinical skills development, and educational support.
  • Develop and execute clinical education programs designed to enhance user competencies.
  • Cultivates close relationships with strategic business partners, including all training centers and opinion leaders.
  • Provides new employee training on products, technology and materials.
  • Assist in developing objectives, and programs for marketing and selling the Company's products.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates educational workshops, and other programs, events, and activities (Maintain contact with customers to evaluate their clinical and educational needs).
  • Leads efforts to place speakers on podiums at key conferences.
  • Work with other departments to establish priorities for the Company direction, new product development, and customer satisfaction.
  • Education reporting requirements (Must document all clinical support and education).
  • Monthly Business Review with Director, RSM, & Marketing Program Manager.
  • Provides nursing and/or medical expertise in the development, implementation, and case reports, journal articles and clinical reports from clinicians.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is required and a minimum of 2 years of sales and leadership experience is required.
  • A minimum of 0 years of sales and leadership is required with an advanced degree.
  • French and English is required (verbal/written).
  • The ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops is required.
  • Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of adult education and communication principles and practices.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
  • Composed under stress
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of nursing and/or medical principles, methods, and procedures.
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate clinical education methodologies and assessment instruments
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments.
  • Working knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation principles and techniques.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
  • Prior OR and/or Angio Suite experience is required.
Nice to Have
  • Medical device experience within vascular surgery, interventional radiology or general surgery.
  • Clinical trial experience within the medical devices space is a bonus.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Frequently required travel to customer clinics, hospitals and offsite meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile.
  • Frequent 2- handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one to another surface at approximately the same level
  • Ability to wear 7-9 lbs of lead for extended periods of time while in the O.R.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer
  • Clinical Specialists are required to be within their assigned territory each day to be available as unscheduled needs arise. CS's are required to work a number of weekends and holidays during the quarter, as determined by local management. Weeknight call coverage is the primary responsibility of the Sales Rep, however, at times, business and/or geographical needs require a CS to be scheduled for weeknight coverage as approved by regional management.
