As the Commercial Capability Director working in Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS); Takedas Global Commercial Strategy unit, you will be empowered to play a key role in upskilling the current GPLS organization through defining, developing, and delivering a robust capability roadmap. GPLS is responsible for unlocking the full potential of Takedas pipeline and global brands by building product strategies that bring transformative benefits to the lives of patients across many therapeutic areas. GPLS will support high-impact transformative lifecycle initiatives to extend the reach of key global brands and increase focus with high impact on a small number of assets. GPLS will also strengthen focus on the pipeline - especially developing product strategies for Wave 1 and Wave 2 assets to assure launch success and build global brands of the future. The teams remit is to deliver effective global product strategies and ensure Takeda is prepared for successful launches. A typical day will include:

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • The GPLS Capabilities Team is part of the New Product and Launch Excellence team at Takeda. The Commercial Capability Director will play a key role in upskilling the current GPLS organization through defining, developing, and delivering a robust capability roadmap. This individual will work closely with various levels of commercial leadership as well as partner closely with Global product teams and regions to ensure that the capability framework is executed to the highest standard.

  • 60% of the role is strategic in nature and therefore will require an ability to comfortably work in white space to define strategies for building future capabilities; 40% of this role will be focused on realizing the capability strategy through excellent execution, management, and co-creation of the strategic roadmap.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and deploy GPLS Capabilities roadmap to deliver needed capabilities (people development, processes, technology) for the future success of the organization.

  • Create and roll out a competency model for GPLS to enable the organization to level up skills and capabilities.

  • Drive Learning and development within the global team

  • Ability to leverage the 70:20:10 development model in order to upskill individuals

  • Partner with US Learning and Development

  • Strategic consultant to all levels of the product launch and strategy units across Neuroscience, Gastrointestinal, Hematology/Rare, and Plasma Derived Therapies.

  • Leverage learnings from USBU, EUCAN and GPA regarding capabilities created and planned.

  • Lead and manage commercial processes such as, but not limited to: brand planning, strategic launch planning, multichannel execution, design thinking, competitive readiness, etc.

  • Partner with cross-functional partners who touch critical commercial processes.

  • Work with the head of launch excellence to help support upskilling of Launch readiness throughout the global organization.

  • Communicate and align priorities through governance and organizational change initiatives across the business.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 12+ years of Sales/Marketing/training experience in the pharmaceutical industry with 5 years in management-level positions with increasing responsibilities. Pharma Sales experience is a plus.

  • Previous global marketing/ training experience preferred.

  • Deep understanding of marketing methods, tools, processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in foundational training processes such as segmentation, positioning, competitive readiness, MCM, etc

  • Prefer a mix of global and US marketing experience

  • Learning and Development experience is a plus.

  • Innovative thinker with an enterprise mindset.

  • Ability to operate well in ambiguity/white space, develop strategic plans, and execute plans through influence of others.

  • Pro-active self-starter with strong leadership skills, cross-functional influencing skills, a results-oriented workstyle and the ability to deliver quality results in a timely manner.

  • Ability to quickly learn and understand a diverse landscape of business and brands across the global business.

Desired:

  • MBA

  • Experience in senior marketing positions at a commercial pharmaceutical organization

  • Industry knowledge comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the prescription drug distribution process (e.g. medical referrals, managed care systems, etc.)

  • Therapeutic knowledge an in-depth understanding of the disease state, treatment paradigms and future trends

  • Product knowledge comprehensive understanding of the medical /therapeutic usage of the products

  • Marketing Techniques comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical marketing methods, tools and concepts. (e.g. market research, advertising, public relations, media placement, etc.)

  • Takeda Operations comprehensive understanding of Takeda's operating structure and methods including a thorough knowledge of the foreign owned parent company

  • Process development and execution such as brand planning and launch excellence

  • Strong strategic and operational skills

  • Strong collaboration: skills to align cross functional groups

  • Leadership: ability to lead, inspire and develop teams; leading without authority and ability to drive change

  • Agility: to adapt to changing landscape as well as organizational priorities

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Ability to develop an overall marketing capabilities strategy and oversee the implementation of the strategy

  • Communication Ability to communicate ideas, both verbally and written, in a persuasive and effective manner

  • Budgeting Ability to create and maintain an accurate budget for department expenses.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel to internal and external meetings including overnights and weekends will be required, including international travel. Approximately 20% travel expected.
