As a Communications Coordinator working on the team, you will support the execution of internal and external communication initiatives across the Global R&D organization. Overview

Global R&D Communications sits within Takedas R&D Sustainable Innovation and Life Sciences Leadership (SI&LSL) organization. The Sustainable Innovation and Life Sciences Leadership organization builds and strengthens our commitment to learning, communication and scientific community engagement across internal and external ecosystems via four discrete workstreams: Global R&D Communications, Public Private Partnerships and Science Policy, R&D Learning Accelerator and Science Philanthropy.

The Global R&D Communications team drives internal and external communications for Takedas patient-driven, science-first R&D engine which is powered by more than 5,000 employees. Focused on four therapeutic areas (oncology, rare genetics and hematology, neuroscience and gastroenterology) our world-class R&D organization pushes the boundaries of whats possible to bring transformative medicines to patients worldwide. With a robust partnership model designed to unlock innovation wherever it occurs, we are advancing an innovative, modality diverse pipeline of approximately 40 new molecular entities.

Position Objectives/ Key Responsibilities:

The Communications Specialist will work closely across the Global R&D Communications team on key programs supporting pipeline and partnership communications (~75%) and project managing internal and external executive speaking opportunities (25%).

The individual will help create content for internal and external communications regarding Takedas pipeline and R&D collaborations including content for web and social media channels.

The Communications Specialist will work with the team to help manage critical internal communications channels including a global newsletter, SharePoint and MS Teams.

This role works with Global R&D Communications leaders to coordinate internal and external speaking and engagement opportunities for Takeda R&D executives including calendar management, meeting logistics and content creation support.

Additionally, the Communications Specialist will partner with the team to help measure and evaluate the effectiveness of internal and external Global R&D communications.

As bandwidth permits this individual may also have the opportunity to support special projects across the broader SI&LSL team.

Accountabilities

  • Work with the Global R&D Communications team to support projects and programs across the organization

  • Interface with members of the R&D organization to accurately communicate program priorities and progress

  • Collaborate with communications peers from other Takeda business units and functions

  • Engage with key stakeholders in the development of best practices for reporting and analytics

  • Ensure consistent execution, and identify and drive continuous improvement with regard to project management

Education, Behavioral Competencies and Skills

  • Minimum BS/BA degree

  • Previous internship/experience within the pharmaceutical industry and/or in a communications/marketing role is encouraged

  • High degree of attention to detail and alignment with Takeda values

  • Ability to work independently. Self-motivated and proactive with a clear track record of delivering results in challenging, ambiguous situations while managing multiple issues/deadline simultaneously

  • Problem-solver, with ability to escalate issues

  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation)

  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Program Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
