The Community Outreach Worker for the Senior Nutrition Congregate Meals Program is responsible for developing, implementing, growing, and maintaining community outreach for the Senior Nutrition Congregate Meal Program in Contra Costa County. This person will coordinate activities with senior center staff and the county nutritionist to promote increased awareness and participation in the Senior Nutrition Congregate Meals Program and builds business relationships within Contra Costa County.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Independent decision-making on implementing and managing the outreach program.

  • Communicate program information to increase client participation through community events, phone contacts and online platforms.

  • Produce a Client Referral Information Packet to disseminate as needed to seniors in Contra Costa County.

  • Develop and print forms for new client applicant information to coordinate with the senior center managers.

  • Nurture new and continuing relationships with business partners and search for virtual promotional event opportunities.

  • Coordinate, schedule and maintain a calendar of outreach exhibit activities, including community events, workshops, and networking events.

  • Plan, coordinate logistics, and implement outreach exhibits.

  • Professionally represent the Senior Nutrition Congregate Program verbally and in Contra Costa County.

  • Maintain spreadsheet of outreach visits/calls and discussion topics.

  • Pack, set-up, break down, and repack exhibit booth furniture, equipment, and materials.

  • Coordinate with Senior Nutrition Program to disseminate menu and information brochures at the exhibit booth.

  • Develop, produce, and publish printed and online informational and signage materials.

  • Perform field visits to businesses, senior residential complexes, and public spaces to post printed advertisements on new client information at strategic locations in Contra Costa County.

  • Plan, write content, create graphics, format, post and maintain website and Twitter outreach.

  • Coordinate with government agencies and organizations to promote Senior Nutrition Congregate Meals on social media platforms.

  • Prepare an annual budget to conduct community outreach and volunteer recruitment activities for exhibiting fees, printing, equipment, promotion items, supplies, and event related expenses

  • Research and implement new trends in outreach industry on format; marketing and advertising; execution; booth and presentation equipment; software and hardware tools.

  • Participate in special projects with the Senior Nutrition Program, office, or independent work.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS



Education/Experience:



  • Associate degree in communications, marketing, business, related field or experience, preferred.

  • Experience of 3-5 years managing an outreach program, preferred

  • Outstanding written communication and presentation skills

  • Experience in preparing reports

  • Friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude

  • Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time

  • Ability to analyze, develop, and implement innovative business solutions

  • Ability to work independently

  • Exercise judgement in decision making

  • Available to work at events on weekends
