Task Description:

14045 COMPUTER OPERATOR V The Computer Operator V resolves a variety of difficult operating problems (e.g. making unusual equipment connections and rarely used equipment and channel configurations to direct processing through or around problems in equipment, circuits, or channels or reviewing test run requirements and developing unusual system configurations that will allow test programs to process without interfering with ongoing job requirements). In response to computer output instructions and error conditions or to avoid loss of information or to conserve computer time, operator deviates from standard procedures. Such actions may materially alter the computer unit's production plans. This operator may spend considerable time away from the control station providing technical assistance to lower level operators and assisting programmers, systems analysts, and subject matter specialists with resolution of problems.

Additional Requirements: Shall be proficient performing all operator, data entry, and retrieval functions. Transmits and receives data via disk, modem, and other electronic means. Extracts data, formulates and interprets management reports, creates archives, backups, and data saves in support of deployments and detachment operations.

Skill and Knowledge:

  • Excellent time management, operation and control, critical thinking, complex problem solving, active listening, monitoring, reading comprehension, and operation monitoring.

  • Good working knowledge of Customs Border Protection (CBP) policies, methods and procedures.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the governing systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.

  • Good organizational and operational knowledge of associated computer systems.

  • Exceptional Data Base Administration skills.

Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Supervises the operation of computer hardware systems and ensures machines are functional and secure. Sets controls on computers and devices to run jobs. Maintains logbooks for job runs and lists malfunctions.

Duties include operating and monitoring computer equipment while performing routine tasks to maintain computer equipment and their peripherals. Ability to coordinate department activity maintenance reporting requirements, prepare aircraft and maintenance related correspondence; maintain directive control and custody records, control forms and reporting requirements; maintain files on departmental organization, manning, detachment personnel, and training requirements; input, verify, and validate data pertaining to the history, operation, maintenance, configuration, receipt, and transfer of aircraft, related aeronautical equipment, and components installed in those equipment; maintain operations department flight data historical files and aviator data.

Everything in Aviation must be properly documented, checked twice for accuracy, and properly filed and logged as any incident or inspection by higher echelon, FAA, or National Transportation Safety Board can lead to lives lost and careers ending.

Task Requirements:

  • Perform Data Base Administration.

  • Oversee maintenance and operation of computer hardware systems.

  • Control console of mainframe digital computer or set of minicomputers.

  • Set controls on computers and peripheral devices.

  • Run computer tasks.

  • Maintain logbooks or records for job runs.

  • List malfunctions that occur during shift.

  • Perform maintenance tasks such as checking for viruses, backing up tape, upgrading software, and other basic maintenance.

  • Assist programmers and analysts with testing and debugging new programs.

  • Monitor systems remotely.

  • Watch closely for error lights.

  • Locate and solve other malfunctions.

  • Load files onto storage media.

  • Help network administrators ensure network connections are in place.

  • Ensure network and servers are functioning properly.

  • Connect computer peripherals for users.

  • Help new employees get their computer running.

  • Clear equipment at end of operating run and review schedule.

  • Notify supervisor or computer maintenance technicians of equipment malfunctions.

  • Retrieve, separate and sort program output as needed, and send data to specified users.

  • Performs other tasks as directed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years related experience.

  • Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Programs (NAMP) or equivalent

  • Associates or higher degree in related field.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

  • Ability to work flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.

  • A current U.S. passport, accept period time away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.

  • Ability to obtain CBP Secret clearance

Employment is contingent on a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
