Custom Applicator- North Dakota

Locations Available:

  • Tioga, ND

Summary: This position will operate equipment, including but not limited to airflow and sprayer, for the application of nutrients and crop protection to customers' fields in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner while interacting with our customers in a professional manner. The position includes driving semi and straight trucks hauling fertilizer and grain. Will also maintain and repair equipment according to maintenance schedules, policies and procedures. Attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership in the work and the equipment used is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports cooperative stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Operates technologically advanced machinery to spread fertilizer and agricultural chemicals in an accurate manner.
  • Precisely blends and custom applies fertilizers and agricultural chemicals based on recommendations and label directions.
  • Drive Tender Truck and Applicator Vehicles as needed.
  • Performs jobs safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Maintains facility and equipment so that they have a good appearance and are always in working order.
  • Performs mechanic work on selected vehicles.
  • Completes applicator logs and reports.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed of product inventory levels that could restrict application or delivery schedules.
  • Keeps facility and equipment records as required.
  • Loads and unloads inbound and outbound inventory.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to evolving technology and applicating practices as they change within cooperative.
  • Assists other departments and team members as needed.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor and Agronomy Department Manager.

Communication Expectations

  • Report unsafe, defective or impaired working equipment or unsafe conditions to your Supervisor.
  • Communicate the information necessary to co-workers to perform tasks according to their job requirements, maintain location efficiency and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ask Supervisor for information or instructions when needed.
  • Inform Supervisor of suggestions to improve safety, efficiency or increase business.
  • Immediately report any work-related injury, property damage or theft to the supervisor or CEO.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to operate agricultural equipment.
  • Ability to utilize and operate variable rate technology and GPS guidance systems.
  • Maintenance and mechanical skills.
  • Basic computer skills. Attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL with health card certification within 1 year of hire. Must have an acceptable MVR. An applicator's license that meets the minimum compliance requirements of the regulatory state in which the applicator operates.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: walk: use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms: talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit: climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts: fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places: outside weather conditions: extreme cold: extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
