The Destinations Career Academy (DCA) Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing, curating and maintaining content for K12s owned social media channels. The role involves supporting the company community throughout the consumer lifecycle on the companys various social media platforms, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube. The Social Media Specialist helps to keep a pulse on the web for conversations related to, or opportune for Destinations Career Academy/K12. The position also assists with developing social media promotions, maintaining social media reports and social media related performance.

  • Support the companys, the companys partner schools, and select communities set up and management of social media accounts across various social platforms;

  • Help to create and execute strategies to build and maintain a positive reputation online using listening tools to find and participate in conversations related to K12 and our related brands;

  • Maintain community engagement for K12-owned social media channels and products/services;

  • Compile reports and perform analysis regarding performance and results across our social media platforms;

  • Maintain awareness of social media tools/trends and applications as well as what is scalable for business;

  • Handle customer service issues, resolutions, and proactively communicate issues, opportunities and insights to the team;

  • Plan and post social media content and ads (time of day, day of week, etc.) based on testing and optimization;

  • Take part in training for stakeholders, one on one or in groups, on how to effectively use Social Media and Reputation Management for business;

  • Develop content to build customer engagement across multiple platforms;

  • Assist in the development and execution of new social media promotions;

  • Moderate user generated content to insure appropriateness and student safety;

  • Provide support and guidance to DCA student ambassadors

  • Author blog posts and other content as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.



Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree in related field of study AND

  • One year of experience working in social media or design at an agency or corporate environment OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.



Other Required Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of social media platforms like Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Woobox, BuzzSumo

  • Extensive knowledge of Social Media platforms including Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and others.

  • Photo editing and/or video editing ability

  • Writing and editing

  • Strong communication, project and time management skills

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.

  • Ability to clear required background check
