As a Designer at E-ONE you will be responsible for the design of WORLD CLASS FIRE APPARATUS to meet customer requirements while focusing on safety, reliability and meeting all applicable regulatory standards. You will work on producing defect-free sales drawings and specifications within the specified schedule. The Designer at E-ONE is relied upon by customers and dealers for technical guidance and support. The role will also include a certain level of customer interaction including customer meetings around bids, orders, sales drawings, and pricing guidelines. You may also be called upon to answer customer questions around design parameters and limitations.  The Designer at E-ONE will also ensure that designs are robust, safe, buildable and can avoid interferences.



  • Knowledge and practical use of drawing and drafting standards.  Dimensioning and tolerancing of detailed drawings conforming to drafting standards and department policies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication / assemblies.  Application of DFM methodologies to deliver producible designs to Manufacturing assuring form, fit and function.
  • Create and manage indented BOM in adherence to company standards. Fully use engineering configuration tools for BOM and design automation.
  • Problem solving skills from issue identification to root cause resolution.  Support Manufacturing to ensure quality and schedule commitments are met.
  • Awareness and familiarization of regulatory standards – NFPA, DOT, ULC etc.
  • Knowledge and use of lean principles as they apply to manufacturing and business processes.
  • Fulfillment of customer requirements (i.e. quotes, shop orders) taking into consideration design rules and all applicable interface points.  Hold cross-functional design reviews as appropriate to solicit input to deliver a robust design that is producible, avoids interferences and meets all industry and company requirements.
  • May be required to participate in customer meetings to understand design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
  • Handle engineering changes through established processes and documentation.


  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain workflow or respond to production requirements..


  • Proficiency in CAD systems – Pro-E and / or Auto CAD
  • Degree in an Engineering Field, preferred or equivalent experience
  • 2 – 4 years Design work experience


While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
