As an entry level Design Engineer in McKinney, TX, you will provide engineering support for our Pressure Management business unit on New Product Development (NPD). In this role you will perform function specific engineering activities to support Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering functions. You will be responsible for managing your workload to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

As a Design Engineer You Will:

  • Provide technical and design support for NPD projects, including the creation of 2D and 3D models, developing design concepts and supporting the testing and evaluation of new products.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality and Manufacturing duringthe NPD process to develop products that meet both internal and external requirements forperformance, quality and safety.
  • Provide input to the creation of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), evaluate solutions to ensure product safety and support the product safety review and design audit.
  • Review applicable codes, standards and customer requirements to ensure productsare designed to meet the required product specifications.
  • Perform design calculations using mathematical tools to comply with applicable codesand standards. Basic utilization of more advanced analysis software such as finite element andCFD analyses is required when appropriate.
  • Define and manage individual work tasks to adhere to project schedules

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • BS Degree in one of the following Mechanical,Aerospace and Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • High regard for safety in workplace and laboratory environments
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to facilitate effective communication of technical ideas to management teams.
  • Interpersonal skills to allow one to work with a wide range of individuals at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to Travel Domestically and Internationally (0%-10%).

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Background in Material Science and Application.
  • 0-2years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Prior Emerson experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computer Aided Design, 3D Printing and/or Minitab preferred.
