In this role you will make your mark by focusing on creating the pipelines and platforms that other teams will use to power HPE Storages next generation offering. Youll use Jenkins and Spinnaker to deploy to a Kubernetes and Istio platform that is running a fleet of microservices in AWS. Youll focus on creating the automation to make running this platform as seamless and as reliable as possible. This will include refining and further building out the existing monitoring and logging infrastructure, which includes Prometheus, Humio, and Grafana. In this role you will also be part of an on-call rotation that supports this platform. In addition to these responsibilities a key part of the role is making the experience better for all the teams that rely on the pipelines and platform. The exact nature of what this improvement work looks like will continually evolve and vary over time.

Part of building this platform means helping us find areas for improvement in both the technical systems and the people systems. We know our process can always improve and as a DevOps engineer you will be an important part in driving this improvement. Youll be working as part of a team of distributed DevOps engineers who build and support the platform. We believe in fostering a respectful and collaborative environment where everyone can learn. You dont have to be an expert in everything were using, but you will need some experience with parts of the tech stack and a willingness to learn the parts you dont know.

As a candidate for this position, you likely have:

  • Experience writing automation code for provisioning and operating infrastructure
  • Experience with microservices and supporting them
  • Familiarity with configuration management and automation frame works such as Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience operating and supporting AWS services (EKS, EC2, SNS/SQS, RDS, etc)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Humio, New Relic, etc.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems OR equivalent combination of education and 2 - 4 years of experience.
