Under limited direction, develops new creative approaches that motivate blood donors via emails, website content, video scripts and other digital channels. Develops themes and campaigns that will attract new blood donors, increase the frequency of donation from existing donors, and motivate appropriate candidates to donate other products such as platelets and plasma.

Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.

Assures quality customer service to all customers.

Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.

Writes weekly emails that are deployed nationwide. Consistently develops new approaches and compelling content to recruit blood donors via weekly email communications.

Writes additional incremental emails as needed to help meet goals for blood donation appointments.

Interviews via phone blood donors and blood recipients. Elicits personal stories from interviewees in order to write compelling testimonials.

Interviews medical professionals and develops content for emails and website that motivates consumers to donate.

Reviews and provides recommendations to improve email copy and layout on all emails written by program managers and other team members.

Partners with program managers to develop email campaigns/series to upsell blood donors to new types of donations such as platelet or plasma donation.

Writes and directs design of digital newsletters.

Ensures emails are error-free and deployed by segmentation team on schedule to correct audience.

Reviews results from emails including open, click, conversion and unsubscribe rates and proactively adjusts copywriting to improve future results.

May be asked to review copy content, layout, subject lines and overall program optimization.

Develops themes for email campaigns and provides creative direction for production artists.

Partners with others to develop messaging guidance used across marketing channels.

Regularly brainstorms and pitches new ideas and also executes them.

Scripts videos for national and product-specific messaging.

Works collaboratively with production artists and provides clear creative direction including selection of imagery and layout recommendations.

Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.



Bachelor's degree required in English, Communications, or Journalism or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Licenses/ Certifications

Five years of writing experience required. To include:
Experience writing content for digital properties such as websites and email marketing (not just social).
Experience with Adobe design products and Microsoft Teams preferred.

Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.
Superior oral and written business communication skills.
Superior grammar and proof reading skills.
Ability to work in a virtual team and participate as an active member of the creative and digital teams.
Must have proficient computer skills.
Able to work collaboratively and take copy feedback from a variety of sources.
Strong grammar; AP Style Guide knowledge,
Able to work within a fast-changing environment, tight deadlines and priority changes.
Ability to travel (20+%).
