The Director, Central Billing Office (CBO) manages teams to meet department and CBO goals. Works directly with the VP, CBO and Sr. VP of Reimbursement to ensure all responsibilities are in accordance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including metrics related to productivity and quality. Oversees workflow, training, and verifying the accuracy of the department's work. This position provides operational guidance and counseling on issues to ensure that the daily work of the entire department is completed accurately and on time.


  • Responsible for the strategic planning, quality, productivity and qualitative metrics of designated CBO departments to ensure department goals and objectives are achieved, in alignment with U. S. Renal Care's Mission and Core Values.
  • Champion and lead department and organizational strategic initiatives: process improvements, technology enhancements, system conversions and/or integration.
  • Responsible for building high performing teams, including the following: Write and conduct employee evaluations, individual performance plans, quarterly snapshots, and establish short-term and long-term goals.
  • Responsible for managing the entire department specific processes to insure that both internal and external customers are supported.
  • Work on continual development of individual skills and behaviors that promote the U. S. Renal Care's way of management and the core values.
  • Express clearly the communication between upper management and teammates as well as address teammate relations issues, as applicable.
  • Interfaces with all payer groups, primarily individual state Medicaid, managed care & private insurance stakeholders.
  • Recommend and monitor department budgets.
  • Light travel required, 10 to 20%

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience in a high volume medical billing and collections environment required.
  • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports who manage/supervise others required.
  • Advanced knowledge of billing and regulatory requirements for ESRD preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of government and private insurer rules and regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 or ICD-10 and HCPCS coding and knowledge of medical billing requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
