As part of the Employment and Labor Law Department, the Director will drive and own operational excellence in affirmative action compliance across the enterprise. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing and overseeing Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs) and associated analyses, handling audits with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, providing EEO/AA training, and advising on the implementation of enterprise-wide leading EEO/AA best practices and initiatives. This position will report to the Vice President, Corporate Counsel, Employment and Labor Law. The position will be based at Prudentials corporate headquarters in Newark, New Jersey, with the ability to work mostly remotely.


  • Conduct affirmative action analyses consistent with regulations enforced by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

  • Prepare Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs), semi-annual reporting, and appropriate communications and guidance for effective affirmative action execution across the enterprise.

  • Manage OFCCP reviews and desk audit submissions.

  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure EEO/AA is imbedded throughout Talent processes.

  • Provide consultative support and thought leadership to businesses and corporate centers relating to Affirmative Action planning and implementation.

  • Design and deliver training where necessary or requested relating to EEO/AA.

  • Provide guidance on enterprise-wide leading EEO/AA best practices and initiatives.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local EEO/AA regulatory requirements, and stay abreast of legal and/or regulatory EEO/AA changes.

  • Serve as an EEO/AA subject matter expert in responding to Request For Proposals or external surveys.

  • Assist with other assignments as required.

Strong analytical and communication skills required. Adept at quickly synthesizing information to distill critical issues and formulate recommendations that consider risks, benefits and alternative perspectives.

Strong strategic planning and solutioning skills required. Has a strong customer and bottom line focus, and is able to understand and effectively navigate within a large organizational structure.


  • A Bachelor's Degree (preferably a law degree) and at least 7 years of experience in affirmative action planning, implementation and compliance.

  • Expertise with complex data and regulatory analyses.

  • Expertise in EEO/AA laws and regulations.

  • Experience managing compliance reviews and working with external compliance officers.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of management.

  • Experience in developing and delivering EEO/AA training.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be flexible and change directions when needed.

  • Knowledge and use of AAP software (preferably balanceAAP).

  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills.

  • Ability to travel as needed for an audit.
