Job Description

The Washington Post seeks a Head of West Coast Client Partnerships to join our team and lead the sales strategy and West and Midwest client partner sales team. The successful candidate will attest to significant management experience, including leading a team of senior sales executives, architecting sales strategy that drives revenue performance and developing key client relationships that result in direct revenue success. This position reports directly to the Vice President of North America Client Partnerships.

The Details:

  • You will be responsible for direct management of the Washington Post West and Midwest client partnership team, a successful group of senior sales executives responsible for significant top line revenue (8 positions as of 4.15.22)
  • You will build upon the existing reputation of The Washington Post in the marketplace through development of smart and sustainable sales strategy that map to the larger North American sales objectives
  • You will establish a methodical approach to how we target tiers of clients and the many categories of business that fall within the West territory including nurturing subject matter expertise within your sales team
  • You will leverage strong existing relationships and establish new client relationships to sell a portfolio of premium integrated media solutions across WP platforms
  • You will develop a reliable market feedback loop that brings actionable marketplace intelligence into the organization to inform our marketplace approach
  • You will represent The Washington Post in the market, appearing on panel discussions within the territory that will result in strong revenue lag metrics


  • You have 15+ years prior management experience within the advertising marketplace as well as a proven track record for delivering sustained revenue growth
  • You're a strong communicator, with superior skills in developing relationships with internal + external stakeholders
  • You have significant experience managing a team that exceeds quantitative goals by relentlessly focusing on qualitative behaviors
  • You are adept at changing altitudes throughout the day, working alongside your team members while also developing strategies that will meaningfully impact the organization's market approach
  • You are fearless in testing smart hypotheses and identifying and communicating learnings to the executive team
  • You smartly balance data with human intelligence to craft strategy that will result in revenue growth
  • Forecasting without bias is something you've proven can be achieved
