Summary -

The Director of Marketing Communications defines, drives and oversees all internal and external communications for NEC in the United States. The candidate will also set the communication strategy that drives the business forward in support of our key business pillars of Advanced Recognition Systems, Customer Experience, Unified Communications and Retail Solutions. Responsibilities will also include oversight and participation of NECs activities in the Federal Government with aspecial focus on safety and security as associated with NEC technologies. The Director is recognized as the authority on NECAM wide internal and external communications.

In this role, the Director will also serve to advise NECs senior executives and must be able to serve as strategic council on critical corporate communications. He/she will also provide corporate wide support for internal communications, press releases, partner communications and lobbies interactions through a small team of dedicated direct reports. Collaboration is a critical component of this role as the candidate will be required to work closely with senior executives, teammates, stakeholders and customers to define business requirements, organizational goals and priorities. The candidate will also be responsible for direct management of NECs third-party Public Relations agencies. In addition, success will be defined and measured by a set of specific metrics and milestones throughout the year for NECAM overall and for each business unit in support of their growth initiatives.

From the creation of internal newsletters and executive communications to external press releases and social media, the candidate will be required to develop a team that can produce high quality deliverables that align to corporate directives while supporting NECAM brand initiatives.As the recognized Communications leader, superior writing skills are required and attention to detail a must as this individual will serve as the final reviewer for all internal and external facing communications. While this position has direct responsibility for all corporate communications, this role will also be required to support NECAM branding, awareness, and demand generation efforts.Interfacing with the Corporate team in Japan will also be critical to the success of this role based in the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

  • 50% Develops and implements communications strategies and execution plans in support of NECAM objectives across all business units to include (Corporate, CX, ARS, ETU and Retail).A special concentration on Federal business and privacy matters will be required in support of NECAMs CX focus.Manages a small team and oversees PR and Consults focused on NECAMs communications objectives. Develops innovative communications and delivery vehicles that inform and strengthen both internal and external audiences and business units.

  • 25% Supports executive leadership communications including ghost writing, speech writing, presentations, social media, blogging and as strategic council as it pertains to corporate communications.

  • 25% Works closely with clients and team members to execute the defined communications strategy. Due to the size of the team this role requires a hands on management approach within an agile, deadline-driven environment.

Prerequisites -

  • Education: BS in Communications or Public Relations and/or relevant advanced degree in Marketing Communications.

  • Experience: 10 years developing and disseminating internal and external Corporate communications / Programs.

  • Certifications, Licenses, etc: None Required

Specialized Knowledge and Skills -

  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; Excellent and effective interpersonal skills (all levels); Presentation/Facilitation/Demo/Public Speaking skills; Diplomacy - Effectively handles difficult, potentially confrontational issues; diffuses conflict and/or resolves problem situations

  • Mathematical Skills: Excel Spreadsheet

  • Computer and/or Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite

  • Supervisory Responsibility, if any: The Director of Corporate Communications will manage and work with a small staff of professionals and, as a team of external agencies hired to support communications objectives.
