The Corporate Category leader - Electronics will strategically develop and implement electronic component and supply chain strategies to increase standardization, drive leverage, and yield maximum value across Regal. They will own the creation of component strategies, the execution of those strategies, and develop component and EMS Provider supplier relationships to support the growth of Regal's electronics spend and increased electronics exposure. They will develop an overall supplier base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, via global market tensioning, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies. This will be completed both through individual efforts and through teamwork with Engineering, Operations and Business Sourcing Leadership. They will serve as a support and an overarching commodity strategy leader for each Business Segment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Defines, develops and communicates the electronic component strategies that drive a supply chain committed to deliver 100% quality parts, on time, with a focused effort to reduce the total cost of the commodity by driving standardization and consolidation while ensuring all engineering, customer, security, and EHS requirements are met.
  • In close coordination with the Business Segments, identifies, selects, and manages global supplier relationships for assigned commodities to ensure that products and services are delivered to the quality, cost and delivery performance levels required.
  • Establish a strategic REGAL approved vendor program for key components by leveraging across Regal Segments.
  • Build partnerships with key component suppliers and EMS suppliers; Develop Executive relationships with strategic suppliers
  • Build collaborative working relationships with other Sourcing leaders/teams to collectively optimize business performance. Establish an electronics council with key members from each Regal Segment to drive common sourcing standards
  • Analyzes the current and projected needs of components across Regal and drive sourcing decisions based upon life cycle positioning, supply assurance, reducing unique and non-standard components, and evaluating management of supply at the subassembly vs. finished components level.
  • Establish and track relevant key performance metrics for sourcing activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, financial performance, and material supply assurance.
  • Function as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electronics components and component manufacturing processes in both the technical aspects and overall industry knowledge.
  • Performs focused supplier negotiations and develops low risk, competitive long-term total cost solutions using creativity and analytics.
  • Identifies potential new suppliers and partners for both Regal direct sourcing and for EMS partner sourcing/directed buy and makes recommendations on supplier selection and quality compliance.
  • Drives critical projects, with an 80/20 focus, for the Sourcing, Engineering, New Product Development and Operations teams, ensuring objectives are tracked and met and communication channels are effective.
  • Leads simplification in the overall electronics component supply chain.
  • Execute strategic supply agreement on Intelligent Power Modules, microprocessors and other key components as necessary, ensuring supply continuity.
  • Support the development and implementation of standard design instructions for Intelligent Power Module and microprocessors selection which is to be used by engineering for specification in new products
  • Perform global benchmarking of EMS and key component suppliers. Compiles, tracks and forecasts the key cost drivers & market factors that influence Regal's portfolio of key electronic components
  • Influence, lead and develop a team of category and commodity resources dispersed across segments/regions
Required Education / Experience / Skills:
  • Strong commodity management and Strategic Sourcing experience, minimum 10 years
  • Experience managing EMS/Contract Manufacturers at a global level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with EMS providers in coordinating component supplier designations and managing ASLs (Approved Supplier Lists)
  • Experience with manufacturing of and/or purchasing of specific electronic components: Microprocessors, Gate Drivers, IGBT (Insulated-gate bipolar transistor), Rectifiers
  • Comfortable driving action through influence, operating in ambiguous situations; be a self-directed leader
  • Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a sense of urgency to meet timelines, goals and deadlines.
  • Robust people skills that include developing strong relationships and solving complex problem
  • Excels in a team environment, driving demonstrated results
  • Strong business acumen and project management skills
  • Strong communicator (Segment teams and executives/senior leaders as well as suppliers)
  • Experience in developing and negotiating supplier legal agreements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience. Minimum 10 years total work experience.

Travel: Minimal/Moderate, typically 20% - 40% throughout the year.

Language: English required, Spanish and/or Mandarin a plus
