Objective of Role

NI is committed to making the cars we drive safer through ADAS and Autonomous Driving Test . As a Director of Business Development in NI's Transportation Business Unit (BU), you will manage a global team of high-performance BDMs working directly with customers to keep pace with the speed of innovation in ADAS/AD. You will develop and lead your team to act with urgency to drive sales engagements, respond to adapting customer needs, resolve challenges and close new business.

At NI, BDMs are business and technical experts that serve as a critical liaison between the BU and Regional Sales in our highest potential growth areas. Your team will provide the domain expertise necessary to lead and enable the Sales organization in customer engagements to build credibility, deepen customer insight and identify increased revenue opportunities in the design and test of autonomous vehicles. You and your team will directly interface with top automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and mobility providers across the globe to deliver innovative test solutions that balance time-to-market, quality and cost.

As Director of Business Development for ADAS/AD, you will collaborate with cross-functional leaders across the organization to refine our growth strategy, guide resource investments and execute on aligned account objectives to meet BU revenue goals. In addition, you will leverage NI's ecosystem of product and solution partners to build connections between people, ideas and technology to frame up innovative solutions to unsolved problems. Strong predictors of success in this role are a hunger for driving business into new growth areas, a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs and an instinct for closing new business.

Performance Objectives

1. Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy to expand market share in ADAS/AD. Act as business owner to achieve BU revenue goals and strategic account milestones.

2. Implement a BDM coverage model to support Transportation BU and Regional Sales growth strategies.

3. Recruit, manage and develop a best-in-class BDM team to lead and enable the sales organization in new growth areas.

4. Guide Sales in the recommended route-to-market and prioritized use of Services and Support resources in pursuing top account objectives - with an approach that also achieves BU financial goals.

5. Work closely with cross-functional leadership in the BU, Sales, Services & Support to define the customer engagement process, confidently demonstrate NI's capability and ensure customer success.

6. Provide integrated global customer insight in ADAS/AD to identify key growth opportunities, surface critical gaps, shape future offerings and influence ecosystem strategy.

Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years of sales, marketing or business development; 3+ years people management

Leadership: Demonstrated record of leading cross-functional teams to quickly deliver on business needs. History of influencing partners and marshaling internal resources to deliver complex solutions.

Domain Expertise: Deep automotive industry knowledge and insight at target accounts. Strong understanding of ADAS/AD development challenges, technology trends and testing needs.

Sales Experience: Track record of leading customer facing engagements to ensure customer and business success; and in generating new demand through convincing insights that help customers recognize value in a new solution or approach.

Customer Relationship: Proven history of building executive-level partnerships with customers. Preference for existing network of contacts with automotive OEMs/Tier 1 suppliers.

Business Planning: Demonstrated leadership in account/business planning to deliver on multi-year revenue goals.

People Management: Effective coaching, goal setting and development planning skills to help team members achieve professional goals necessary to excel in their role.

Location: This is a global role. Preference for proximity to a global automotive center.

Travel: 30%-40% overnight, depending on location
