The Director of Sales Planning is responsible for a portion of the B&G Brand portfolio. He/She works cross-functionally with Field Sales and Marketing to help translate Brand strategy into channel/customer strategy and develop the Field Sales execution priorities for distribution, promotion, shelf and pricing. This includes allocating and monitoring trade spending by customer to insure execution against Brand pricing and promotion guidelines and driving ROI improvement. He/She partners with Marketing to establish priorities for assortment and slotting allowances for core and new items to achieve our fair of items within the category. The Director of Sales Planning collaborates extensively with Marketing for all new product launches to insure all selling materials, planning timelines and KPIs are in place for flawless execution. The role also works closely with Category Insights to co-create compelling selling stories to enable our shelf and assortment objectives. The Director of Sales Planning leads the internal annual customer business planning process between Sales and Marketing and establishes key timelines and deliverables, and facilitates periodic planning sessions throughout year. This position serves as a liaison between Field Sales and Supply Chain to insure critical customer inputs are incorporated into the Sales & Operations Planning process. The Director of Sales Planning may have direct reports and is responsible for talent development and annual performance reviews for his/her team.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison and internal voice of customer between Marketing, Supply Chain and Field Sales Teams to enable execution of all customer business plans
  • Provide insight and guidance to Marketing to develop channel specific strategies that meets the needs of top customers and align with Brand strategy
  • Allocate and monitor annual trade spending across customers to insure we deliver net sales, trade spending and slotting budgets
  • Partner with Marketing in the development and delivery of the Field Sales execution plans for assortment, promotion/merchandising, shelf and pricing
  • Develop the Sales execution plan for all new product launches and partner with Marketing to insure all selling materials are available for Field to achieve KPIs
  • Serve as keep Sales voice in the Sales & Operations Planning process to help achieve customer service level goals
  • Lead the internal customer business planning process between Field and Marketing
  • Provide coaching and development of direct reports through the established performance management and development planning process

Experience, Skills, Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred
  • 10+ years of sales planning experience, within a CPG environment, required
  • Proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of channel and customer strategies, and overall marketplace dynamics
  • Exceptional collaboration skills to manage/balance needs of multiple stakeholders and resolve competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen to understand, and to translate the Company and Brand strategy to the Field and customers and enroll them in support of strategies
  • Ability to work effectively within a limited resource environment and demonstrate the ability to perform tactical activities and also think strategically
  • Ability to create and transfer a selling strategy to address all market customers and channels with a long term horizon of the future state of the business
