If so, Guardian is seeking a Disability Income Product and Competitive Intelligence Analyst. In this role you will be responsible for tracking the overall market activities of specific competitors, industries, and related topics reporting back on new initiatives, threats, and opportunities. You'll be responsible for coordinating, maintaining, leading, and managing product projects and processes with the product team. You'll be responsible for providing medium to high complexity analytical and competitive research to support management, the product development team and the Guardian agency system. You should have a very strong understanding of disability income insurance products; have excellent analytical and communication skills, and strong attention to detail. You should be comfortable conducting deep analysis of disability income insurance products, including review of product filings and illustrations. You need to demonstrate an ability to think strategically about industry trends and competitor actions and articulate their implications for Guardian.
You are:
A self-starter who is inquisitive, customer focused, and continuously looking at ways to make things better. You are an analytical thinker with strong verbal and written communication skills, and constantly seek to improve and broaden your expertise across the organization. You have:
  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent business experience
  • Strong knowledge of our disability income products, our competitors products, and the overall marketplace
  • CLU, ChFC, CFP, or other professional designation a plus
  • Understanding of various insurance distribution channels
  • 5 years disability income insurance industry experience preferred
You will:
  • Develop and manage product related programs, identifying opportunities within the disability income market and industry trends, that will drive disability income sales growth. This individual will work with various departments (underwriting, actuarial, claims, and legal) to create program parameters and track results.
  • Regularly monitor, analyze, and interpret marketing and competitive information related to trends within the individual disability income marketplace, along with an awareness of industry trends in group long term disability. Utilize research tools such as Competiscan, external media, and various other resources to monitor and communicate product trends and competitive results.
  • Package and disseminate insights on competitor strategy including product development, target markets, marketing and sales support.
  • Develop and distribute relevant competitive information to key internal partners including actuarial, distribution, marketing and senior management.
  • Maintain regular benchmarking metrics and relevant to industry trends.
  • Contribute ideas and evaluate possible actions based on research and trend analysis for Product Management and Design Director to favorably position disability income products.
  • Fulfill on-demand research requests from internal partners: Actuarial, Life Product, Distribution, Underwriting, and Senior Management.
  • Gather information on competitor products through online research, obtaining marketing samples, and work with industry partners.
  • Analyze, track, and report on disability income product utilization and trends.
  • Job position is based in Pittsfield, MA.
