Job Overview

The Distrubution Center Manager oversees and directs all warehousing and shipping functions. The Manager is responsible for all resale, and finished product inventories for the facility. In addition, the Manager coordinates the effective use of people and equipment in the most efficient manner possible to meet customer and GLC requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead Warehouse Operations, including:
    • Ensure the safety of all GLC team members through safety program development and execution.
    • Oversee daily and long-term staffing needs to assure on-time shipping, receiving and production putaway within functional cost parameters
    • Develop Distribution Center team through effective training program and coaching.
    • Participate in the hiring/interviewing process for new employees.
    • Ensure warehouse meets all GLC, regulatory and independent auditor criteria.
    • Provide leadership to WMS (Warehouse Management System) enhancements and upgrades.
    • Develop and institutionalize warehouse metrics that support progress in efficiency and quality of service and product.
    • Provide strategy to support inventory accuracy throughout the DC.
    • Provide analytical skill set to identify opportunities in the areas of performance and cost.
    • Provide leadership in progressive initiatives through the use of an effective change management approach.
    • Provide leadership in assessing and implementing opportunities to implement automation to support DC operations.
    • Monitor inventory discrepancies determine cause and corrective action.
    • Collaborate across functions effectively to support optimum services levels.
  • Responsible for regularly scheduled continuous counts.
  • Oversee the movement resale product between other facilities.
  • Manage projects as assigned.
  • Initiate and support continuous improvement plans.
  • Participate with Management Team to develop, implement, and ensure adherence to GLC and Plant procedures.
  • Oversee the Plant's DC material handling equipment maintenance and repairs, PM's, etc.
  • Monitor virtual bin locations, follow-up and clean as needed.
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies & procedures.
  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of warehouse management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse experience.
  • In depth understanding of inventory control and warehouse operations management.
  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System) and the use of an RF bar code.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • SAP experience.
  • Food warehousing experience.
  • Temperature controlled warehouse experience.
  • High volume, high inventory turn warehouse experience.
  • Leading a large team of 50+ employees.
  • Ability to quantitatively analyze performance and cost variable to drive optimum outcomes.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on standard practices.
  • Ability to provide leadership, support, communication and direction to department personnel.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead in a team based culture.

Working Conditions

Use of motor skills to safely drive tow motors or other motorized vehicles in tight quarters.

Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.

Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.

Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.

Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
