SCOPE:
Perform duties to transport Recreational Vehicles (RVs) from Manufacturer to Product Dealer. Duties will also include transporting other types of vehicles, including some used vehicle/consumer transport.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and complete reports (DVIR). Maintain proper fluid levels and report discrepancies and malfunctions. Drive Semi-Truck and Trailer to dispatched locations across the United States and Canada.
- Inspecting and loading Cargo (RVs, vehicles); securing cargo to ensure no shifting in transit and proper distribution of loads. Complete all required shipping paperwork, including Bill of Lading and Cargo Inspection forms, prior to leaving ship origination.
- Unloading cargo at destination points and complete required delivery paperwork.
- Proper use of Electronic Logging Device and logging true and accurate information. Follow all FMCSA Rules and Regulations, along with applicable State and Local Rules and Regulations. When performing job functions in Canada, follow all Canadian Rules and Regulations.
- Maintain electronic mobile device (Tablet) in good, working condition. Ensure it is mounted safely, when being used, and secured safely, when not in use. Update device and apps as needed.
- Check phone and e-mail and respond to messages in a timely manner, communicate with Dispatch office to update transport progress and plan future loads.
- Must be able to perform within physical requirements including, but not limited to 100 lb. single lift, push, and pull; walking, kneeling, squatting and standing for long periods of time.
- Plan and complete Vehicle Preventative Maintenance within required intervals. Maintain vehicle in a clean, fully operational condition. Maintain all equipment, including cargo support and securement devices, in good, working condition.
OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Perform regular truck driving functions, including fueling, adding fluids and additives, and cleaning windshield, windows, and mirrors.
- Some disassembly and reassembly of cargo, for loading and transport.
- Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility and notify supervisor of unusual operating conditions.
- Attend and participate in a variety of meetings, training programs, and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to changes to equipment or process, new developments, requirements, procedures, and policies. Assist with the training and orientation of new or transferred employees as directed.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
- Specialized Truck and Trailer equipment, including winch, ramps, racks, and other devices.
- Various straps and tie-down equipment to secure cargo. Various wrenches, screwdrivers, and similar hand tools for disassembly/reassembly of cargo.
- Forklift with Fork Extensions.

Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment. Promote safety. Use proper lifting, pushing, and pulling techniques, when needed. Maintain clean and safe working environment. Participate in training and safety meetings.

This requires defect-free work (no driver damage) and understanding of the requirements of the company’s quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards. Identify and segregate non-conforming product. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.
- FLEXIBILITY: Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Must be flexible in taking lunch and breaks when workflow requires. Willing to work additional hours as necessary. Willing to accept last minute changes in dispatch, origination, and destination.

Actively seek out work in other areas when current assignment is complete. Make suggestions for improving product quality, processes, safety, and company profitability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a Valid / Clean Class A Drivers License. Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and required DOT Driver Physical with Certificate.
- Must be able to obtain a Passport and be able to cross in and out of Canada. Must obtain a Passport within 90 days of being hired.
- Forklift license (must be able to obtain an Avery Transport-issued forklift license)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift/Push/Pull- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Climbing- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Stooping- Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling- Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching/Crawling/Reaching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing- Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle; performing loading/unloading tasks, etc.
- The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on truck/trailer decks and high places, exposure to high heat or extreme cold and weather.
