JOB DESCRIPTION

Schnabel Engineering, Inc. is seeking an organized, responsible, personable, and motivated individual to serve as an Engineering Technician in our Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania office. Primary responsibilities will be field support and construction observation related to geotechnical, geostructural, geophysical, instrumentation, wetland or ecological science, and dam engineering projects. It is essential that the candidate be able to work independently, work in a collaborative team environment, and able to cross-train and learn other roles and responsibilities within the various fields of engineering and geology performed across the company.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist on tasks and perform testing and observations duties as needed and use various testing equipment as it relates to construction, engineering, geological, geophysical, and instrumentation methods under supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals.

  • Observation and oversight of construction projects including installation of support of excavation elements (piles, soil nails, tiebacks.)

  • Perform soil borings and load testing of installed construction elements.

  • Communicate information clearly and in a presentable fashion.

  • Record and document field observations.

  • Completes required paper work on time and in a neat and professional manner.

  • Works in safe manner using appropriate safety equipment to meet job site requirements.

  • Interacts with client, contractor, and office staff in a courteous and professional manner.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in a STEM field or high school diploma /GED with relevant work experience

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Successful completion of mandatory company training

  • Able to perform mathematic computations and use and understand spreadsheets

  • Attentive to detail

  • Interest in working outdoors, at project sites, and on construction sites

  • Willingness to travel to project sites. The amount, location, and duration will be project dependent.

  • Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to navigate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside.

  • Construction, engineering, geology, or similar experience is preferred

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment employment drug screening
