The Executive Producer, Court TV, will lead network coverage of trial programming and legal journalism, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Court TV.

What you'll bring:

  • Lead network coverage of trial programming and legal journalism

  • Ability to calmly make decisions in a high stress environment

  • Manage show teams, approving scripts, banners and rundowns

  • In partnership with Court TV leadership, make editorial and coverage decisions for the TV network and associated platforms

  • Work closely with journalists in the field and the assignment desk to provide the strongest journalism product for our viewers

  • Lead and help develop editorial staff members for growth, positioning them for new opportunities as the network evolves

  • Manage schedules for Producers and Associate Producers in When to Work scheduling program

  • Manage team of Line Producers, Producers and Associate Producers

  • Sets premium programming strategy to capture and captivate a growing audience seeking fair, objective, professional news and information

  • Overseeslive programming, including creation and maintenance of a program guide

  • Oversees special live programming related to significant news events

  • Develops strategies to increase audience engagement through content on-air and social networking/marketing; creating and maximizing channels for meaningful connections with audiences

  • Drives cooperative partnerships with other news managers and across Scripps stations that support audience growth and brand consistency

  • Works with marketing to update news programming and consumer-facing marketing elements

  • Works with production and technical teams to develop consistent updates to systems and workflows to ensure quality control standards are met and surpassed

  • Oversees unit hiring needs and onboarding plans for all new hires to ensure new employee training and growth potential is maximized

  • Performs other duties as needed

What you'll do:

Education & Experience/Certifications

  • BS/BA in journalism, communication or related field preferred

  • 5-plus years experience in television/linear production required

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience as a newsroom leader

  • Extensive experience in a national newsroom environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment

  • Employee development and performance management skills

  • Sound editorial judgment

  • Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines and work under pressure
