The Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (BCHS) in the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh (http://www.bchs.pitt.edu/), invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-stream assistant professor position in the area of mixed-methods research methodology in public health.

BCHS works to improve and promote health and equity by engaging individuals, communities, and systems through our research, teaching, and practice. The Department has a strong commitment to practice-oriented research, evidence-based interventions, and the dissemination of findings. Our faculty prepare the public health workforce for the 21st century, engages with communities in mutually beneficial and respectful ways, and seeks to reduce health disparities by promoting health for all.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to work with members of our Concept Mapping Institute and other school and university resources including the Center for Social and Urban Research.

The search committee welcomes applications from individuals with relevant scholarship and experience in behavioral and social sciences areas. Particular areas of interest include community-engaged and action-oriented research, strong and innovative qualitative research methods, and a demonstrated history of purposefully integrating qualitative and quantitative data in research studies to explore social determinants of health.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in public health or a related social science discipline and have an interest in building partnerships across disciplines within the University. Applicants should also have a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary education and research. Evidence of scholarly productivity is required including teaching, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition, demonstrating the potential to transition to independent investigator status.

The successful candidate will teach in the Department's baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs and be expected to train our students in qualitative and mixed-methods research. They will also be encouraged to collaborate with faculty who seek to use mixed-methods research in their research.
