The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Computational and Systems Biology (DCSB) to develop a cutting-edge research program and lead collaborative research initiatives on the development and use of computational models in the area of Cancer Systems Biology using Genomics & Bioinformatics/computational approaches, or dynamical systems and quantitative measurements at high resolution.

This recruitment will provide an essential link to allow rigorous systems approaches to be applied to the study of cancer and will enable researchers to stay at the cutting edge of system analysis of tumor microenvironments to facilitate the translation of basic research into clinical applications. The successful candidate will manage a vibrant laboratory with a research focus on functional genomics of DNA damage signaling, the mechanistic understanding of fate tracing and dynamics within cellular populations, p53 regulation, stress signaling, and network biology among other research areas. The incumbent will be a member of the Genome Stability Program at the Hillman Cancer Center and is expected to actively participate in the genome stability group activities including the weekly Work-in-Progress and journal clubs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor an elite group of students at the Joint Carnegie Mellon University-University of Pittsburgh Ph.D. Program in Computational Biology (CPCB) and the UPSOM Integrated Biomedical Graduate Program. It is anticipated that the work and collaborative efforts with both basic and clinical faculty will bridge multiple programs, centers and departments across Hillman Cancer Center and the School of Medicine.

Must have a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology or directly related field and have completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer Biology and Systems Biology.

Must have any experience with the following: (i) cancer systems biology, bridging omics approaches with rigorous bioinformatics/computational biology modeling; a highly innovative line of research; (ii) deep sequencing to analyze gene expression and protein binding in human cells; (iii) single cell analysis of tissues; and (iv) computational models (ODE and stochastic) of cellular signaling.

Must have any experience with or knowledge of the following: (i) the DNA damage response; (ii) combined use of genomics and the dynamics of signaling pathways therapying the context of cancer therapy; and (iii) evolutionary analysis of signaling pathways.

Experience can be concurrent.

Applicants are kindly requested to upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample, sample course syllabi, teaching evaluations, research statement, teaching statement, and list of three referees combined in a single PDF file to the University of Pittsburgh's Talent Center, Requisition 20003954 at www.join.pitt.edu .
