Under the supervision of the Management Services Officer, the Fellowship
Coordinator will coordinate activities for the UCLA-VA Geriatric Medicine
Fellowship Program, Clerkship, Ground Rounds, and Academic Personnel.Major
activities for this role include: marketing, recruitment, orientation,
placement and evaluation of the Geriatric Medicine fellows, Clerkship and
Ground Rounds; research, planning, overseeing the implementation of seminars,
and rotations; representation of the division at evening, day and off-site
educational events; maintenance and implementation of policy and procedures
manual for Geriatric Medicine and other programs. Reviews financial statements
and agency reports for the Fellowship program.Ensure compliance with
ACGME requirements for Graduate Medical Education, arrange and attend monthly
and quarterly committee meetings.Serves as liaison between fellows/
faculty to relay programmatic information. Monitors MedHub evaluation tracking
system for the Division of Geriatrics, which includes evaluations for all
faculty and fellows. Coordinates the Divisions academic personnel actions by
assisting the faculty with the preparation and submissions of dossiers and
credentialing paperwork. Assists with Healthy Years newsletter distribution and
responds to inquiries regarding the newsletter.Handles incoming calls
regarding Healthy Years Newsletter and takes messages as needed.


Skill in the planning and development of health professional pre and post-graduate programs and courses including the development of educational objectives, content themes, topics, program format and faculty requirements.
Knowledge of graduate medical education accreditation and compliance criteria.
Skill in coordinating and prioritizing the necessary steps for program implementation by working with the Academic Coordinator, faculty and others to determine program needs and establish time, place, and sequence of steps to be taken.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Knowledge of basic budget and accounting principles.
Ability to design marketing plans.
Ability to develop and implement policy and procedure systems for major educational programs.
Skill in maintaining confidential paper files necessary to the Divisions goals.
Strategic planning and critical thinking skills required for short-term and long-term goals.
Ability to provide supervision for ongoing projects and time sensitive projects.
