The Field Technical Service Representative is responsible for performing on-site installation, upgrades, calibration and configuration, as well as preventive maintenance and repairs as per Medtronic SOP's and manuals.

A Day in the Life

  • Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.
  • Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.
  • Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
  • Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
  • May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
  • Responsible to understand and follow corporate and functional business unit procedures as well as technical guidance documents.
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports.
  • Manage company assets including spare parts inventory, test equipment, computers and vehicle.
  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Maintain timely communications via e-mail and voicemail with customers, sales, support personnel.
  • Provide after-hours service/support, where required.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • 0 years of experience is required.
  • Minimum of 1-year field service experience in maintenance and repair of complex electronic or biomedical equipment is preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Electronics Technology, or certificate from accredited electronics school or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no restrictions.
  • The ability to travel 30 - 40% within your assigned territory or across Canada is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer and telephone efficiently.
  • Customer and Quality-focused individuals.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment to help perform service activities to meet business needs and the demands of customers.
  • Strong time management skills and work ethic.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice to Have

  • A technical degree in electronics or biomedical electronics, computers, or related field.
  • Medical Device product knowledge is preferred.
  • Prior work experience within hospital operating rooms is an asset.
  • General knowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision is an asset.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft OS, Word/Excel.
