The Financial Analyst - Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) is an integral role in the generation of the current expected credit loss (CECL) estimate process. The candidate will have the opportunity to be part of enhancing and maturing processes under significant new accounting guidance. This will require strong work ethic and willingness to work in a dynamic work environment. The incumbent will be responsible for completing tasks within the allowance process to ensure that the ACL reserves are reasonable and supportable. This includes analysis of large data sets through reconciliation, data quality assessments, and maintenance of the primary data rules. Other primary responsibilities will be executed by performing analysis on the loan portfolios and model results utilizing the analytical platform, compiling internal management reporting decks to facilitate discussions about potential qualitative adjustments, and assisting in the maintenance and updating of qualitative factors. This position will have significant interaction with senior management and Credit leaders. This position will also assist in the documentation of the qualitative factors and overall allowance process. Finally, the position will provide additional assurance by providing additional reviews of SEC reporting disclosures. During off-cycle time periods, the incumbent will work with various stakeholders to maintain the relevant systems, determine process enhancments, and assist in planning for the next quarter's process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 40% - Develop a proficient understanding with the ability to effectively and efficiently utilize software solutions utilized in the ACL process. Will be responsible for data movement, reconciliations, assumption inputs, variance analysis, portfolio analysis, waterfall configuration and review, training others to utilize features within the solution, etc.
  • 20% - Analytically review ACL results and assist in providing variance analysis. Requires collaborating with internal stakeholders and consultants to understand the key inputs into models and their impact on results by credit and economic forecast stakeholders.
  • 20% - Assist in creating and distribution of data and reports provided to internal management as well as required reports for company regulators.
  • 10% - Ensure proper documentation of all processes and procedures.
  • 10% - Ad-hoc projects as requested.
  • Relevant educational or work background that can be utilized in key accountabilities. Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Data Analytics, are relevant fields.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to prepare documentation, reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in collaboration with other team members and external consulting firms.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
  • Experience in data research and problem solving skills.
  • Prior accounting work experience in allowance for loan and lease losses and an understanding of the new accounting pronouncement related to Financial Instruments-Credit Losses (ASC 326) is desirable but not required.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
