Wagner Equipment Co., the Caterpillar dealer for Colorado, New Mexico and far west Texas, is seeking applications for a Fluids Lab Manager in Aurora, CO.


The Fluids Lab Manager is responsible for operating a safe and profitable fluids lab in a manner that reflects the companys vision of working as One Professional Team. In close coordination with the service and sales departments of Wagner Equipment Co., the manager develops and organization that provides good customer service, accurate work, a professional image to the customer, reliable accuracy, and opportunities for advancement to lab personnel.


Essential Functions:

  • Completes various weekly and monthly reports to track sales, lab processing volume, and use of labor hours

  • Establishes lab personnel schedules

  • Maintains records of staff and safety meetings

  • Prepares and administers annual budget

  • Monitors department financial performance on a monthly basis

  • Establishes safe and efficient lac procedures that produce accurate results

  • Provides services that support a wide range of internal and external customers

  • Assists in developing and maintaining systems to track maintenance of Wagner-owned equipment

  • Prepares and delivers external and internal presentations that promote lac services

  • Prepares and delivers training presentation

  • Assists customers with special projects or problems as needed

  • Provides one-on-one customer assistance as needed

  • Provides fluid testing support to all Wagner service areas

  • Responds to requests for additional services

  • Promotes machine sales and service offerings to customers

  • Organizes and participates in CAT Care meetings, maintenance seminars, etc., as needed

  • Evaluates new lab technology and automation. Makes recommendations for acquisition as appropriate

  • Identifies, evaluates, and makes recommendations for new Fluids Lab products and services

  • Identifies and implements measures to control operational costs while maintaining good quality

  • Assists with special evaluation problems

  • Operates lab-specific computer programs when needed

  • Maintains profitability

  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Direct reports include: Evaluator, Fluids Lab Coordinator, Lab Clerk, Lab Technician

  • Hires, trains, and develops and directs an effective lab personnel

  • Approves weekly payroll

  • Completes annual performance reviews

  • Provides one-on-one coaching as needed for lab personnel

Work Environment:


  • Noise: Quiet

  • Indoors

  • Many petroleum products are in use in the lab environment, but the exposure to chemicals for the manager or any clerical personnel is very limited

Physical Demands:


  • Talking

  • Sitting

  • Use of Hands

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds

Required Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Some College or Trade School

  • 3-5 years experience in a fluids lab environment

  • 3-5 years administrative/clerical experience

  • 1-3 years customer service experience

Additional Eligibility Requirements:


  • Must pass all required pre-employment screenings which may include but are not limited to background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit for duty testing, and any other job-related tests/screenings


Pay Range:$56,327.18- $84,496.13 annually
Salary is dependent upon education and experience
