Edelman's Western Region Health team is one of the fastest growing in the firm's health network. We have forged a dynamic team comprised of Edelman veterans and new talent with diverse backgrounds to match our eclectic and expanding client roster, which is comprised of biotechnology pioneers, health technology disrupters and health systems addressing individual and societal health. We're seeking asenior-level public relations professional, at the GM or EVP level,to join the US Health team to lead client relationships and teams across the dynamic health sector on the West Coast.

Our teams service and support breakthrough, first-in-class medicines and industry disruptors, while pioneering some of the best communications and marketing work including integrated earned, creative, digital and interactive content development. We are looking for a strong leader and a seasoned communicator with a robust fluency in thehealth industry and direct client experience servicing companies at varying sizes and development stages. An ideal colleagueis someone who isself-motivated, takes initiative, readily accepts new responsibility and is driven to succeed. Experience with new data and regulatory pathways, breakthrough therapies, rare diseases and value and drug pricing are preferred.

One of the key pillars of this role is to be a true partner to clients, a strategic counsel who is ingrained in their business at a macro level, but with a strong handle on the day-to-day work and deliverables with the team. Our clients rely on us to be confident in our guidance, but able to pivot or yield when needed. An important part of this role will be to help develop talent and encourage by example the best ways to work withbiotechand life sciences clients. The pace, level of contact, expectations and needs for these clients is often quite different from large pharmaceutical companies and part of this role is to be a thought leader, educator in best practices and a creative thinking/solutions coach.


    • Serves as client leader and steward of client relationships
    • Oversees the Western Region Health leadership team responsible for business and talent development
    • Key member of the US Health Leadership team, pathing forward on priorities against the US Health Sector strategic plan
    • Ability to think and program across a variety of platforms, channels and audiences
    • Consistently identifies business problem(s) that clients are looking to solve and ensures they are understood by team
    • Maintains an intimate understanding of the clients' businesses, priorities, pain points and competitive landscape and helps the team do the same
    • Stays knowledgeable about markets, sectors and channels in which clients operate; uses internal/external resources to address knowledge gaps for self and team
    • Anticipates what's next; helps clients get ahead of issues and capitalize on new opportunities
    • Demonstrates empathy for clients - understands clients' mindset, challenges (personal, professional, internal and external) and barriers to success and takes appropriate action
    • Balances the needs of the client and the needs of the firm with grace and understanding
    • Delivers integrated thinking rooted in insights
    • Measures what matters - tracks progress and reports results based on agreed-upon metrics and achievement of business and communications goals

Basic Qualifications

    • At least 15 years of relevant experience in Communications Marketing and/or related fields, including research, advertising, management consulting, media or publishing

Preferred Qualifications

    • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university
    • Strong communication - active listening, negotiation and persuasion
    • Confidence and conviction in presenting ideas and providing counsel to internal and external audiences
    • Strong and consistent problem-solving and analytical skills
