How you will contribute:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the Ethics & Compliance Program for BioLife across relevant geographies
  • As the leader and subject matter expert on ethics and compliance, serve on the BioLife Senior Leadership Team
  • Support the PDT BU business development opportunities for BioLife including with E&C advice on primary and secondary due diligence, working with Global Business Development, Finance and Legal
  • Together with direct report work closely with BioLife University to ensure that the E&C Learning plan is embedded in the annual learning offerings
  • Lead the Enterprise Risk Assessment and regular follow-ups with the Biolife Senior leadership Team
  • Lead and/or play an important team role on specific, identified cross functional project(s)
  • Lead or participate in Global Ethics & Compliance projects.
  • Take a lead role in ensuring that the Global E&C team understands the BioLife business so that design, rollout and implementation of global initiatives cater to the BioLife business
  • Be an active member of the Donor Compensation Committee and the Engineering team responsible for finding, designing and building new plasma collection centers
  • Actively support the continuous improvement of the overall E&C Program
  • Assume a lead role in developing relationships and improved ways of working with E&C colleagues from outside the PDT BU team
  • Contribute to global E&C Policies/SOPs, initiatives or programs as relevant and interface with other E&C teams for BioLife and PDT BU support
  • Be the custodian of the Takeda Values at BioLife and work closely with the Biolife Senior leadership Team to bring the Values to life through everyday decision-making
  • Co-lead ethics by design across business projects with the BioLife Digital, Data and Technology team including the use of the Takeda AI Principles, Data Privacy Policy and the IFPMA guidance on the ethical use of data and technology
  • External facing - align BioLife advisory engagement with evolving Ethics & Compliance trends (PhRMA, OIG, DOJ, SEC, PCF)

CAPABILITIES

  • Proven ability to effectively lead teams in formal and informal settings
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively while delivering on deadlines
  • Effectively work cross-functionally and collaborates in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead change efforts through effective communication
  • Demonstrated executive presence and strong customer service skills while working with all levels of management, collection center staff members, and other E&C colleagues
  • Strong communication skills - including the ability to manage and communicate effectively on complex matters with senior stakeholders internally and externally and with non-experts
  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and regulatory information and legal advice

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12 years E&C experience (while specific E&C experience is strongly preferred, substantive experience gained in a legal role(s) where the handling of significant compliance-related matters form part of such role(s) would also be considered)
  • Minimum 5 years leading team(s) in an E&C environment and / or as a member of a business leadership team
  • Experience with US market regulations as they pertain to the retail pharmacy or other major retail industry sector
  • Strong command of English language in both written and verbal form, knowledge of German is considered a plus
  • Ethics & Compliance experience in the pharmaceutical industry is considered a plus and so is ex-US experience
  • Understanding of either Data Privacy rules & regulations or technology ethics considered a plus
