Head of Forecasting and Data Strategy

As the Head of Forecasting and Data Strategy working in Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS), Takedas Global Commercial Strategy unit, you will be empowered to lead a team of forecasting experts who will partner with the product strategy, insights and market access teams to build forecasts for Takedas pipeline assets. Global Insights is a center of excellence in Global Product and Launch Strategy (GPLS) and insights cover Market Research, CI, Pipeline Forecasting and Data Strategy. A typical day will include:

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • This team will use best practices in pharmaceutical forecasting and, where appropriate, challenge the teams on assumptions. The forecasts will form a critical part of the product strategy. While the team members will be providing analytical consistency and rigor to the forecasts, the Head role will be more focused on the right simplification and storytelling that enables decision making for senior leaders.

  • Oversee relations with Investor Relations for GPLS. This includes establishing regular meetings to answer questions on the portfolio from senior leadership, managing quarterly IR processes and partnering to prepare ad-hoc material for investor days. The Head role will spend majority of the time in ensuring alignment of intent with the IR team and key BUs (e.g. R&D, OBU, VBU, RBUs)

  • Lead data strategy team for GPLS. This group will establish the data strategy plan for the organization - leveraging data to increase insights on our patients and markets. This team will also lead data strategy capabilities across the GPLS organization. It is expected from the Head role to actively participate as a standing member and GPLS business representative of the Global Data Council and other corporate initiatives related to Data Strategy.

  • Lead a team of 5 FTEs located in Boston and Zurich. Coach team members to build their skills. Establish strong bench strength in forecasting and data strategy, as well as increasing the skills of team members in navigating a complex matrix organization and in increasing exposure towards senior leadership.

  • Build Insights Capabilities and be an active member of the Global Insights Leadership Team. Constantly bring innovation and deploy capabilities across GPLS Insights Franchise teams. Provide guidance to define overarching Insights Plans and prioritize projects across the GPLS portfolio.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • 20% Leading team of 5 FTEs

  • 35% Oversee forecasting for GPLS pipeline assets

  • 15% Prioritize projects across the GPLS portfolio

  • 15% Build out Insights Capabilities Plan and support Insights Plans

  • 15% Scan external environment for partners and best practice

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelors degree (minimum); MBA or science-related graduate degree preferred

  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical / biotech, new product planning, commercial marketing / sales and / or market insights experience that clearly demonstrates strategic thinking and deep analytics

  • Experience in roles that have frequent exposure to top-level executives highly preferred

  • Proven ability to influence in cross-functional settings is a must. Must be a strong communicator, able to confidently present to top level executives within different functions of the organization

  • Proven experience in enabling high-level strategic thinking through analytical reasoning is a must. The role involves a high degree of diplomacy together with the ability to generate a healthy debate across executives to solve trade-offs

  • Deep understanding of the tools and techniques of Analytics and Insights; ability to coach and teach others not only to deploy thorough analytical thinking, but also to navigate complex matrix environments

  • Proven track record on managing corporate processes, such as cross-functional data strategy and long-range forecasting is essential. The role will devote a considerable amount of time at insuring alignment across Takeda BUs on deliverables for top level executives

  • Rare Disease and Specialty Pharma experience a plus

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional international travel, up to 25% during peak periods
