Thales is currently seeking a Process Engineer in Orlando, FL. The Process Engineer is expected to study, analyze, recommend and implement improvements to the existing repair activity for Avionic, In Flight Entertainment (IFE) and Aircraft Electrical Systems components. These improvements must address the overall performance (Turn Around Time) TAT, as well as overall cost of repair (Family Reference Costs).

The Process Engineer captures best practices by observing activities in shop and collaborate with the Industrial Process Engineering network to deploy, update or define new standards. The Process Engineer works closely with key stakeholders in the Repair / Production units (Known as APRUs Autonomous Production / Repair Units) to drive workstation improvements and participating in Kaizen events to ensure their implementation. In addition, the Process Engineer will propose, develop and implement monitoring tools together with analyzing test means utilization to improve repair process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be involved in APRU standards and processes improvement through capture, formalize and setup of good practices.

  • Support activities for family reference cost (FRC) and repair time reduction.

  • Share and implement best practices from the Industrial Process Engineering business network.

  • Participate in problem solving and Kaizen activities.

  • Develop and implement tools necessary for improve or establish repair activities within the region.

  • Collaborate with Repair Line Managers to optimize workstations and shop layout.

  • Update of production or repair routing times further to standard evolution or yearly campaign for review and challenging of routing times.

  • Sustain deployment of Continuous Lean Pulled Flow and ensure Line Balancing in production or repair lines.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering.

  • 5yrs of experience in an equivalent activity or a combination of education and work experience

  • Familiarity with Lean/Six-Sigma principles and problem solving methodology.

  • Ability to engage and deliver results.

  • Solid organization, decision-making, judgment, and team-oriented skills.

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment, dealing with numerous inside and outside organizations.

  • Above average level of personal responsibility with well-developed sense of urgency.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization as well as external customers.

  • Self-motivation and successful track record of direct contribution in resolution of complex technical issues.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to discuss and resolve differences in opinion in a professional, objective and respectable fashion.

  • Must be able to work alone and in a team environment, large and small.

  • Knowledge of Windows Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio).

  • High proficiency in MS Excel with ability to perform statistical analysis, comparative analysis, and complex calculations.

  • Good understanding of manual and automatic test benches.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in aerospace industry

  • Knowledge of printed boards reworking process.

  • Knowledge of SAP software
