What we do:

The Supervision Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) supervises banks in the Second District.The objectives of supervision are to:

  • Evaluate and promote the overall safety and soundness of supervised institutions

  • Ensure supervised institutions compliance with relevant laws and regulations

  • Facilitate the stability of the financial system of the United States

  • Support the growth and stability of the U.S. economy.

Supervision is carried out through a combination of methods, including through on-site and off-site examinations involving staff dedicated to the supervision of an individual firm and other professionals focused on analytical, policy and risk matters. Supervision is coordinated with other US agencies.

The Large Institution Supervisory Coordinating Committee (LISCC) Supervision Program is the Federal Reserves national supervisory program for the largest and most systemically important financial institutions. The LISCC Dedicated Supervisory Team (DST) executes firm-specific examinations and monitoring in coordination with the national programs, maintain a broad-based understanding of the safety and soundness of their assigned firm, and recommend supervisory plans and ratings.Each DST partners with national programs (Capital, Governance and Controls, Liquidity, Resolution and Recovery Planning) to plan and execute on monitoring and assessments of their supervised firm.

Your role as Institutional Supervision Lead Examiner:

  • Participate in firm specific and horizontal examinations to develop well supported supervisory assessments

  • Contribute to continuous monitoring regimes including:

    • Meetings with management,

    • Review and analysis of internal MIS (risk reports, performance reports, budget projections, business plans, and committee meeting minutes, etc.) to identify drivers of and potential changes to risk profile, operations, or strategy

    • Build and maintain communication channels with firms business line and risk functions

  • Participate in and support discussions with senior management (including bank entity management) across business lines, independent risk, and internal audit to develop comprehensive views of controls practices

  • Collaborate with LISCC program personnel to support the DSTs formulation of an integrated view of risk management, controls and compliance at the institution and legal entity level

  • Prepare presentations and findings regarding risks and supervisory concerns to internal stakeholders

What we are looking for:

  • Supervisory judgment and examination experience, including ability to balance competing priorities, invite challenge and diverse perspectives, assimilate and interpret new information, and produce sound analysis

  • Familiarity with supervisory guidance for large financial institutions

  • Project management skills, including ability to execute supervisory activities and projects with minimal guidance, with a track record of producing quality work products within desired timeframes

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to support an inclusive environment, build productive and influential working relationships and coach more junior examiners

  • Strong communication skills to synthesize and share information succinctly, authentically, and persuasively to stakeholders

  • Some travel may be required for examinations, vettings, training, and meetings
