Plans, lays out and performs all bench and machine operation to service, repair and maintain the tools, die and machine equipment used in the various departments. Works from drawings and specifications to construct simple dies, jigs and fixtures, as well as replacement parts for machines, etc. Uses precision instruments for exacting measurements. Checks out machine and die performance as required. Responsible for quality of workmanship and dimensional accuracy. Must have satisfactorily completed all steps of apprentice program described in the Tool and Die Apprentice Program which includes written and practical exams and all training deemed necessary by the Company and the Joint Training Committee to keep up with the new technology as determined on an annual basis. Must be physically capable of handling parts, materials and equipment as needed. Requires little supervision. To provide further training, it may be required to transfer an employee to another shift regardless of seniority. (These periods will last no longer than sixty days per occurrence)
