Job Description

Provides business and technical leadership in the execution and management of projects.

Accountable for overall project performance including, project resources, integration of project activities, liaison to senior management and other stakeholders.

Ensures successful transition with little or no impact on the customer.

Ensures project goals and budget requirements are met in a timely manner.


  • Determine the feasibility of a project.
  • Identify vendors and/or systems for the successful completion of the project.
  • Leads the team in defining project strategies, developing goals, assigning project tasks and ensures the team meets all goals.
  • Accountable for the overall project design and implementation of the completed program.
  • Responsible for project oversight in order to maximize the effective use of project resources.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develop procedure and training material in order to provide clear and consistent policies on how the new program is managed.
  • Coordinate and conduct training in a timely manner for all departments affected
  • Provides technical direction and expertise to new BioLife projects or product lines requiring laboratory support and evaluation.
  • Participate in operational excellence initiatives and projects to drive a culture of continuous improvement to achieve site operational excellence and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary for successful completion of projects

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise
  • Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience, as well as, project management tools.
  • Must demonstrate strategic leadership, strong financial acumen, and proficient supervisory skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to design and implement projects/studies outside area of expertise.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all levels of an organization.
  • Result oriented with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Walking, standing, observing others performing work assignments.
  • Ability to work in an office / production environment. .
  • Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to maintain complete and accurate records.

Decision-making and Autonomy
  • Must be able to determine impact to product quality when testing deviations occur, contain the situation and implement preventive actions.
  • Drives implementation of projects based on business strategy, schedules, budgets, and financials

  • Interfaces with employees of various educational backgrounds and levels within the company.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all these various business partners.

  • Strong working knowledge of GMP/GDP requirements in a commercial setting and experience interacting with regulatory authorities and auditors.
  • Three to five years previous project management experience required.
  • Experience in a professional or technical capacity in a laboratory, blood services, or pharmaceutical manufacturing, including significant exposure to the regulatory requirements affecting that discipline or activity is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to present technical and financial data to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
  • Fully competent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, data management and reporting, project tracking and reporting, and documentation software systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage change, providing both strategic and tactical leadership and to foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Manages expectations and fulfills commitments to internal and external stake holders.

Minimum Degree Required:

Bachelor degree from an accredited college/university in a biomedical discipline (Chemical, physical, biological, clinical lab science, or medical technology).


Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, and at least 5 years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing along with 3-5 years project management experience.


Bachelor degree from an accredited college/university in another disipline and 5 years experience in managing projects, preferably in an Laboratory setting


Bachelor degree from an accredited college/university in medical technology.
