TheLaboratory Coordinatorcoordinates lab preparations and daily operations of assigned labs. This position provides support by coordinating common lab supply usages between classrooms and research labs. This position is responsible for lab procurement for managing the budget. This position works and communicates with the Environmental and Health and Safety Department to oversee the implementation of safety procedures in the lab-based on Federal and State guidelines.

DUTIES

1. Provides technical and instructional support.


2. Oversees lab personnel and provides guidance and proper training.


3. Procures and maintains lab supplies and equipment and manages the budget.


4. Ensures safety procedures are implemented.


5. Researches and builds lab experiments as needed and approved.


6. Assists the department and research personnel to conserve resources.

MARGINAL DUTIES

1. Performs all other duties as assigned.


2. May provide specialized classroom instruction to students.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Reports: Part-time employees.
Delegation of Work: Regularly assigns work to subordinate(s).
Supervision Given: Manages student assistants, provides performance evaluation, and recommendations on hiring.

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location: Works in an office environment for 2 to 4 hours; science laboratory 6 to 8 hours; classroom, training room, auditorium 2 to 4 hours.
