The Impact Youll Make in this Role

For 20 years, 3M has been an industry leader in driving a Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement culture with Black Belts assigned to a two-year leadership development program.

The person hired for the position of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will use tools and methodologies to enhance our business and financial performance by systematically responding to customer needs, streamlining our manufacturing and supply chain and/or quality processes, creating speed, eliminating waste and driving overall operational excellence.

As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading cross-functional process improvement teams using lean and six sigma principles and practices
  • Teaching, mentoring, and coaching Green Belts within Manufacturing and Supply Chain across the United States and Canada to optimize functioning of Lean Six Sigma teams and create savings
  • Collaborating with Process Owners and Champions to maximize the hopper processes, drive process improvements, and define metrics and KPIs to measure success
  • Establishing control plans and monitoring appropriate metrics to validate project results are achieved and track improvements

Upon successful completion of the program, this person will become 3M Black Belt certified and re-enter into an impactful role in the company.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of project management experience
  • Seven ( 7) combined years of experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a science, engineering, or supply chain discipline from an accredited university
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • 5 years of project management experience
  • 10 combined years of experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management, DMAIC, and Lean
  • Effective facilitation, communication, and teaching skills
  • Other industry certification (e.g., PMP, APICS, CPIM, etc.)

Travel: May include up to 30% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
