Job Title: Legal Hiring Coordinator

Salary: $51,801/year

Unit: Legal Hiring Unit

Position Summary:
The New York County District Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for a Coordinator in its Legal Hiring Unit. In this position the Legal Hiring Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the unit and specialized units within the Office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform high-level administrative functions and related duties to support the Legal Hiring Director, the operations of the Legal Hiring Unit and the activities of the Hiring Board.
  • Schedule Hiring Board members for interviews.
  • Schedule job applicants for interviews and maintain interviewing calendar.
  • Handle all oral and written communication and correspondence related to applications.
  • Track candidate deadlines and offers.
  • Maintain and update the unit's proprietary Legal Hiring database. Enter applicant data and compile reports as requested.
  • Greet candidates arriving for interviews, provide information and instruction and answer questions.
  • Liaise with Career Services contacts at law schools and colleges.
  • Assist with organizing programming internally and outreach at law schools.
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries from law schools and job applicants.
  • Assist with the design, supervision and administration of the Semester and Summer Law and College Intern programs.
  • Develop and maintain recruitment materials including website and other social media.
  • Collect data for internal and external surveys.
  • Various additional assignments related to legal staff hiring and programs as requested.
  • Responsible for working with Unit supervisors to ensure efficient management of bureau operations and resources.
  • Perform related administrative and clerical duties as needed.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to manage, update and edit existing in-house proprietary databases.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment; detail oriented and self-motivated and able to multi-task and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Dependable and resourceful team-player who can work collaboratively with lawyers and support staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff and visitors.

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Additional Requirements:
  • At least one year of experience in a law office or business preferred.
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings.

  • Two (2) year commitment to hiring bureau.
