What We Do:

The Supervision Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) supervises banks in the Second District. The objectives of supervision are to:

  • Evaluate and promote the overall safety and soundness of supervised institutions

  • Ensure supervised institutions compliance with relevant laws and regulations

  • Facilitate the stability of the financial system of the United States

  • Support the growth and stability of the U.S. economy

Supervision is carried out through a combination of methods, including on-site and off-site examinations involving staff dedicated to the supervision of individual firms and through other professionals focused on analytical, policy and risk matters. Supervision is coordinated with other US agencies.

The Large and Foreign Banking Organization (LFBO) Function is responsible for monitoring and assessing the safety and soundness of two large domestic firms and all foreign-owned firms with U.S. operations (FBOs) in the Second District.

Your role as an LFBO DST Institutional Supervision Lead Examiner:

As an LFBO Dedicated Supervisory Team (DST) Institutional Supervision Lead Examiner, you will assist in executing the assigned elements of the DSTs supervisory plan, communicating supervisory messages, and developing supervisory assessments for one or more risk stripes, businesses, and/or governance entities of the supervised institution. This entails contributing to firm-specific and horizontal supervisory reviews in areas that may include, but are not limited to, governance, strategy, financial condition, independent risk management, internal controls (including internal audit), and business line management. You will also partner and work closely with specialists in various risk disciplines and other dedicated supervisory team members at the FRBNY in a highly collaborative environment.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Participating in firm-specific and horizontal examinations and monitoring activities that may include, but are not limited to, liquidity risk, credit risk, market risk and associated business lines, data management, , governance, and risk control disciplines.

  • Assisting in the development of well-supported supervisory assessments and presenting examination results to supervised institutions, Federal Reserve colleagues, and other supervisory authorities.

  • Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of the supervised firms remediation efforts on various outstanding supervisory findings to ensure timely execution and escalation of non-conformance as appropriate.

  • Contributing to the preparation of supervisory plans for relevant areas.

    • Building and maintaining relationships with other supervisory teams and risk specialists and proactively collaborating with internal/external supervisory colleagues to arrive at a shared understanding of the firms material issues, emerging risks, and remediation progress.

    • Advancing a high standard of operational excellence in executing the supervisory program and associated operational processes.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience and solid understanding of the financial system, including legal and organization structures, financial performance, and risk management practices in a range of financial and non-financial risk areas.

  • Strong collaboration skills with an ability to build deep, productive working relationships in line with an inclusive culture that values learning and agility, curiosity, and sharing of diverse perspectives among the supervisory stakeholders.

  • Ability to undertake supervisory activities with limited guidance, prioritize and multi-task, manage and interpret data and quickly assimilate new information, and produce sound analysis.

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), including ability to synthesize and communicate a wide range of information and perspectives succinctly and persuasively to stakeholders.

  • Commissioned Examiner or willingness to enroll in examiner commissioning training upon acceptance of the position.

  • Limited travel may be required for examinations, training, and meetings.
