Reporting to the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the Manager DEI leads Samuels efforts to build a workplace that respects diversity and empowers team members to work and learn in an inclusive environment.

We are looking for a Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to join our team!



The person will be responsible for cultivating work or learning environments that encourage and support diversity and that are free of systemic barriers to inclusion. This persons responsibilities will include developing and implementing inclusion initiatives, such as organization-wide DEI training and multicultural events.
The role will also support the talent acquisition group in creating and implementing programs to recruit and retain a diverse workforce. This person will also assist the HR team in ensuring Samuel complies with affirmative action or equal employment opportunity regulations, where applicable.
The Manager DEI will also help identify areas where Samuel may be lacking in diversity or have practices or policies that may not be equitable or inclusive. This person will help develop and implement action plans addressing areas for improvement while raising the organizations awareness and understanding of this important initiative.



Responsibilities:
Act as the primary liaison with business units and the local DEI Ambassadors; provide advice, guidance and strategies that drive diversity and inclusion outcomes for Samuels business units.
Develop tracking strategies to monitor and evaluate impact and ROI of programs; (i.e. company-wide events, leader roundtables, internal D&I assessments) and make recommendations for program enhancement and improvement.
Support the HR team to integrate diversity, equity and inclusion across all businesses and into our people processes to create and track tailored initiatives and solutions.
Conduct on-going qualitative research both internally and externally on demographic trends; using insights to drive recommendations on best practices, identifying and recommending strategies for enhancing Samuels DEI initiative.
Identify and build relationships with external partners, including thought leaders and peer organizations, that impact and support our diversity and inclusion strategies for underrepresented groups.
Manage the budget allocated to Samuels DEI programs.
Other duties as assigned, including some administrative tasks in coordination of meetings and events.

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in sociology, public administration, human resource management or another related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a complex organization.
Preferably have experience working in an affirmative action and EEO compliance function; and including two years of management or supervisory experience.
Comfortable with difficult but constructive conversations.
Know how to persuasively influence others to achieve a shared goal.
Must be able to balance strategic priorities but execute practically in a way that will engage stakeholders.
Project management: understands how to juggle competing priorities and meet deliverables within agreed timeframes.
Strong relationship building skills and experience interacting with, advising and influencing HR, senior leadership, management and employees at all levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
