Summary:

The North American Regional Payroll Manager will lead and supervise a regional payroll team within the regional HR Service Center to ensure delivery of superior service to internal customers in multiple countries (US, Canada, Puerto Rico) and across a range of HR processes (e.g. payroll, employee data administration, customer service, call center, vendor management, etc.)

This position will be responsible for managing the teams areas of accountability, equipping team members with skills and knowledge they need to support the HR operations, monitoring team performance, driving continuous improvement of Payroll Operations and implement change and strategy initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assume overall accountability for services provided and results achieved by the Regional Payroll Team
  • Oversee the day to day operational activities of the team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services
  • Coordinate team resourcing to ensure workloads are effectively managed
  • Develop and maintain strong internal business relationships to proactively identify, mitigate and resolve customer concerns
  • Coordinate the implementation of system and process changes, quality controls and audit recommendations to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures and continuous improvement
  • Review and evaluate regional payroll strategy, and gain alignment for and implement any approved changes
  • Review and evaluate payroll vendors performance and recommend changes if needed.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within HR as well as with key senior executives from each business / country supported
  • Ensure the confidentiality, security and integrity of employee payroll and data records are in accordance with legislation and country specific policies and procedures
  • Represent payroll in Time & Attendance system governance and ensure adherence to payroll policies and practices

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelors degree in business, HR, or related discipline required
  • 8+ years of Payroll and Employee Data Management experience (region specific)
  • People management experience

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Experience with Ultimate payroll system
  • Strongly prefer system experience in ADP and Kronos
  • HR Information System experience preferred, Workday a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Regional payroll experience/familiarity (US, Canada, Puerto Rico)
  • Strong understanding of HR operations and Delivery Center management
  • Ability to influence, partner, and develop productive relationships with senior HR leadership and other parties to achieve necessary strategic goals
  • Experience in vendor selection, negotiation, and management
  • Well versed in government policies, regulations, and procedures regarding employee compensation
  • Executive presence to interact easily across all levels within the organization in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities and short deadlines
  • Self-starter with a proactive and inquisitive nature who can anticipate and pre-empt problems
  • Strong planning, organization, delegation, problem solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Skilled in effective leadership, people management, and development
  • Can be trusted to maintain confidential information
  • Strong process-orientation and process improvement mindset
  • Excellent Communication and Customer Service orientation

Job Requirements:

  • Shifting work schedule might be required depending on the critical deliverables and the urgent requirements of countries supported
